Project 2: Texture and Pattern

For Project 2, we were asked to make 2 stamps and 3 press tiles. This was done by carving out detail into a block of clay and then firing it so it could be used on other pieces to add design.

Ideation Process

For my first set of tiles, I experimented with using letters and I wanted it to be like a warning sign/caution. This goes along with the theme of gross/repulsiveness when it comes to eating. The words were meant to be symbolic of the internal monologue that can happen when we approach eating. The second set of press tiles went with my second theme of growth and change. I made one look like the center of a flower and the other was just repetitive in pattern and nice to look at.
